March 2025 Ministry Updates

Dear brother/sister,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

I thank God for this privilege to share with you how the Lord has been working in His kingdom, particularly in the ministry He graciously entrusted to me and made possible also through your prayers and support.

Many things happened this 1st quarter of 2025, and here are some of the highlights and prayer requests. Thanks for your time reading.

1. Additional Students in the Study Center

Last January 2025, we started the first semester of the academic year in Cavite Reformed Theological and Ministerial Institute (CRTMI). We received 7 new Credit students and 3 new Audit students. I plan to get them officially enrolled with MINTS within the next few months, once the students get used to the standards and requirements of the MINTS curriculum.

Right now, we’re studying two courses: (1) The Pentateuch by Dr. Ritsman and (2) The Doctrine of God by Dr. Vander Pol. I and the students are enjoying the lectures.

2. Becoming the Southeast Asia Coordinator

It was encouraging to be part of MINTS’ annual meeting this 2025. After the meeting, Norlan De Groot offered me the role as the Southeast Asia Coordinator rather than as his Assistant. I prayerfully accepted the responsibility and met with Drs. Zugg and Ruddell.

I hope to learn more and be faithful in this new role, praying that God will use me to help initiate more study centers in the region.

3. Pursuing Special Degree Plan with MINTS

I got to start my MDiv. studies at Birmingham Theological Studies last January. After 4 weeks, however, I was exhausted and had little time for personal care, marriage, and family. Simultaneously teaching MINTS classes and studying at a different seminary proved inefficient as well.

After talking to Dr. Ruddell about the situation, he gave me a special degree plan wherein I can resume my Bachelor of Arts in Theological Studies (BATS) with MINTS and at the same time earn a Masters of Arts in Theological Studies (MATS) degree while teaching in our study center. In this way, I only have to focus on one curriculum both as a student and a teacher. It will be a long way to pursue advanced studies, but it doesn’t matter as long as I keep learning and helping MINTS grow.

Prayer requests

Here are some of my prayer requests

a. Local church

Our church plant in Dasmariñas, Cavite had our 1st anniversary last February 2, 2025. We continue to pray for growth in the gospel ministry and the fellowship among the members. Some families left the church due to personal reasons (e.g., migrating to another city for work, looking for a more established church). Thankfully, the Lord keeps bringing other people to the church.

Please pray that the Lord will keep me faithful in the ministry as a church planter. My wife and I are also making small steps to finally transfer our residence to Dasmariñas so we can more efficiently reach out to other people and serve the brethren.

Please pray that the Lord will encourage the remaining core members in the ministry and that God will send the “right” people who will be part of establishing the church plant.

b. Parachurch Organization

Our group of Reformed and reforming churches in Cavite are working on a parachurch organization that will provide biblically-sound training and materials for Christians and churches in the Philippines. We already have the Tagalog Three Forms of Unity book and the MINTS Study Center as our initial projects.

Please pray for wisdom and sustenance as we seek to serve Christ’s church beyond our local churches.

c. Seminar with Norlan De Groot on April 16-18

Norlan De Groot is scheduled to give lectures on Reformed doctrine and worship during the Holy Week here in Cavite, Philippines. Please pray for his health and wisdom, and also for our organizing team in preparing everything for this event. May the Lord be glorified in this!
